Merchant Navy Entrance Exam 2015

Dates for admission to merchant navy has been announced by the Indian Maritime University (IMU) yesterday through an official notice from the office of registrar. Indian Maritime University will conduct an online computer based Common Entrance Test (CET) for undergraduate and postgraduate courses. All those who are interested in joining merchant navy in the year 2015  must act according to the instructions given below.

Available Courses

The following courses are available at IMU campuses and its affiliated institutions.

Undergraduate Programs:

1. B.Tech (Marine Engineering)

2. B.Tech (Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering)

3. B.Sc (Ship Building & Repair)

4. B.Sc (Maritime Science)

5. B.Sc (Nautical Science)

6. Diploma in Nautical Science leading to B.Sc. (Applied Nautical Science)

Postgraduate Programs:

1. MBA (Port and Shipping Management)

2. MBA (International Transportation and Logistics Management)

3. M.Tech (Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering)

4. M.Tech (Dredging and Harbor Engineering)

Postgraduate Diploma programs:

1. PGDME : Post Graduate Diploma in Marine Engineering

Research Programs:

At present PhD Programe is being conducted at IMU Visakhapatnam

campus.

Entrance Exam and Syllabus:

There will be a computer based common entrance test (CET) in the month of April. The results of the CETs are valid for the particular Academic session only. Application Fee is Rs.1000 for General candidates and Rs.700 for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates.

The Syllabus for CET for UG programs will be Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry,English, General Knowledge and Aptitude at Plus 2 level (CBSE, ISE and State Boards).

The Syllabus for the CETs for PG programs will be as follows:

For the 2 MBA – i) Quantitative ability, ii)Data interpretation, iii) Verbal

ability and iv) Logical reasoning

For the 2 M.Techs - English, General Knowledge, Aptitude, Mathematics and

Engineering. 

The questions will be of multiple choice type.

Exam Centers: 

Computer based online test for merchant navy will be held at various selected centers in the following listed cities.

Agra Hyderabad Patna Ahmedabad Jaipur Port Blair Allahabad Jodhpur Pune Bangalore Kanpur Raipur Bhopal Kolkata Ranchi Bhubaneswar Kota Shimla Chandigarh Lucknow Siliguri Chennai Meerut Srinagar Cochin Mumbai Trivandrum Coimbatore Muzaffurpur Varanasi Dehradun Nagpur Visakhapatnam Guwahati New Delhi.

You can select up to three cities of your choice when filling your registration forms, you will be allotted the nearest center but it all depends on the availability of seats, so you must register as soon as possible.

Date of Publication of Results 13th May 2015

Certificate Verification 29th June 2015 to 24th July 2015

Date of Commencement of Programs 3rd August 2015
